Entry #2 The Rise of Corbin Carrol

                                       Risof Corbin Carroll

Corbin Franklin Carroll, 24 years old, is a Major League Baseball player who plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was born on August 21, 2000 in Seattle, Washington. He was selected 16th overall in the 2019 MLB draft
On the Field:

2023:
At the start of the season Corbin was given a huge 8 year, 111 million dollar contract. This means that the D-backs had faith in this young star before he had a whole season under his belt. The team as a whole looked to improve on a not great 2022, however; they started to show life from their young stars. Early into the 2023 season, the entire baseball world realized what Carroll was about. By the end of the season he ended with the astonishing stats; 116 runs scored, 161 hits, 30 doubles, 10 triples, 25 home runs, 76 RBI's, and 53 stolen bases. He led the team to the underdog story of the year making the World Series and fell 3 games short of a world title. Carroll also went on to win National League Rookie of the Year.
After a disappointing ending to the previous year, there was nothing but high expectations for the 2024 season. However, it did not start off well Carroll started off the season with terrible numbers with a batting average under .200 for the majority of the season. This was happening because he was struggling to hit the fastball, especially up and in. Since the All Star break, he has kicked things into gear. While also leading the D-backs to another hopeful playoff berth. Last month, August, Corbin Carroll won the NL Player of the Month
Off the Field:
While everyone watches Corbin Carroll's production on the field he is a great person off the field as well. He is always helping out the community all around Arizona. He recently helped pass out school supplies to kids in need. He also does meet and greets around the valley and lets people get pictures and autographs. He is always helping to make a difference around The Valley whenever he can even if he has a game that day.

Corbin Carrol is a young new star in the making. He will be able to show off his explosive play and entertainment for years to come. He will continue to improve and hopefully be in the MVP race someday. As the talent continues to improve he will also continue to grow a community outside of the game of baseball.

Entry #1 Track and Field

                                                         Track & Field

Track and Field is a sport that consists of multiple competitions within the sport. There is competitions on a track which is 400m in length on an outdoor track. Within the track world there is races ranging from the 100m dash to the 10k. On the field side of things there is events like high jump and long jump. There is is also events like hammer throw and shot put.

The biggest stage for Track and Field is the Olympics. The Olympics happen every 4 years where the best athletes in the world compete against each other to become the best in the world. In every year that is not an Olympic year there is still the World Championships. While the Olympics and the World Championships are basically the same thing however, the Olympics are more publicized. The first known Olympics happened in 776 B.C. in Olympia, Greece.

The Stars:

Modern Track and Field has gained more popularity throughout the last 20 years. There is big name athletes within the world of Track & Field that have arose over the years . Names such as Usain Bolt from Jamaica from the early 2010s to the 2016 Olympics dominated the world of Track &Field. On the woman's side, names like Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce also dominated from Jamaica. As of 2024 Track & Field has more publicity than it has ever had. Partly because on July 2, 2024 a Netflix original series Sprint aired showcasing the 2023 World Championships. This show showcased the biggest athletes in Track and Field. A few  athletes who were  on the show were Noah Lyles, a short distance sprinter. Shacarri Richardson, short distance sprinter. Both of these athletes showcase the rise of America in the world of Track & Field. The United States of America dominated the 2024 Olympics with 34 overall medals.

The Grind:

While races and events do not take much time the time and energy to get to the big stage  is a hard for the body. Season does not start until the Spring time but, training is almost all year with grueling workouts. Most of the time these workouts include runs that are further and harder then their actual race when that time comes.  The week worth of workouts usually include a few days for plyometrics. A few hard days which are endurance days. There is also a day or two that is light and easier than the rest of the weeks workout. The athletes go through these grueling times to make it to their end goal. The athletes want to make the World Championships or the Olympics if it is an Olympic year.

Track & Field is a very interesting sport that has gained more popularity over the recent years and is only getting bigger due to the big name athletes coming around who enjoy the publicity. The sport is very tough and the practices and workouts are very difficult but allows the athletes to stay in shape and get ready for the bigger picture and get to the top. Just like any other sport the end goal is to make it professional and become the best of the best.
